You can only make runewords in nonmagical socketed (grey) items! To make a runeword that has 2 runes, in an item with 4 sockets, for example, you must insert 2 jewels + 2 rune. If the MD5 or whatever checksum is different, battlenet will say it can't detect your version. You can fill up the sockets before the rune with jewels. ANd yes i realize this is in general mod not code editing.Įdit: and, assuming your mod is for sp, any modification to D2Client will prevent people from using battlenet (open or closed). So if you want to simple code edit to color things like blizzard did, this shouldn't be too hard (i did it in my mod to color gems and such). Runes have an external jump to both of these offsets to color them orange, although, i don't know where this is. Ground color to make items: 0xBFFE6 (08 = orange) Ground items to color:0xBFF8C (in hex) (sands, keys, etc.) Inventory color to make items: 0x94257 (08 = orange) Inventory items to color: 0x941F7 (in hex) (sands, keys, etc.) You would need to hijack two routines, one for color in inventory and one for ground. To fix this, do the same thing blizzard did to color runes by editing D2Client.dll to color items. When you sell the item and then buy it, the name appears as the /? color rather then tan. For changing the color, I noticed 1 minor thing.
